Show By the Journalism Class of Milford High School Mrs. Mary McCuIley, Instructor STUDENT COUNCIL PLANS At the Student Council meeting meet-ing held Wednesday evening, Nov. 11, many important things were discussed. The most important item ac complished was setting up rules for Sadie Hawkins Day, to be held from Nov. 23 to 25. filled festivity where the girls try to catch a specific boy and ask him to the Sadie Hawkins dance. Of course, there are rules to all games, including Sade Hawkins. Haw-kins. After the girls have drawn a boy's name from a box they may start chasing him, but not in the school building. After the girl has caught the boy, she must pin a badge on him, showing that he has been spoken for. The last day of the. chase is a free-for-all. Those girls who ! haven't caught their boy may run after anyone. The dance will be a straw hat and shaggy levi affair. EIGHTH GRADE WILL ENTERTAIN Friday, Nov. 20, the Eighth Grade will present their annual an-nual assembly to the student body and townspeople who wish to attend. With advisors Mrs. McCuIley, Mr. Rowley, and Emcees Kathy Hanley and Kathy Gillins, the class will have such talent singing, pantomimes and m sical numbers. u" The class will hold a matine( dance in the afternoon, in th gym, with records for' must-6 NEW STUDENTS In the last three -weeki Milford High has added three new students to the student body. Jim Stoddard, who is a senior from Bear River, Utah-Jim's Utah-Jim's brother, Don, a 'sopho more, and John Marshall junior from Vale, Oregon.' These students are a Wei. come addition to our high school. U N MOVIE The M H S Model United Nations Club will sponsor a matinee movie for the student body next Wednesday afternoon. after-noon. Money collected will help finance a trip to the state Model United Nations for the various members in the spring. It was decided that the girls will be-alloved to chase the toys before school, at the noon hour, and after school. All class presidents are to furnish Ikene Crane with a list of members of their class who wish to participate. The names of the boys whom the girls will chase will be drawn at the Eighth Grade dance this Friday. The Christmas Formal was the other main subject of discussion. dis-cussion. BASKETBALL TRYOUTS After a week of tryouts, the basketball team has been chosen. The members of the team are Terry Lofthouse, Doug Bedingfield, Keith Gillins, Gil-lins, Steve Miller, Shirl Nichols, Nich-ols, Larry Reese, Blaine Roberts, Rob-erts, John Roberts, Mike Taylor, Tay-lor, Gary Tomsik, Doug Turner Tur-ner and Robert Willingham. The B team includes Glen-don Glen-don Banks, Bud Barnes, Gary Elmer, Vernon Erickson, Chris Gronning, Craig Kirk, John Kirk, Mike Schow, Rodney Sears, Don Stoddard, Doug Tait, Theo Smith, Robert Smith and Arthur Stewart. THE SPYDERS Our High School Combo, The Spyders, is' becoming a very popular orchestra in this region. re-gion. It consists of Brad Whit-taker, Whit-taker, Steve Miller and Ed Megill on guitars; Grant Wads-worth, Wads-worth, saxophone, and Mike Wisner on the drums. They have had many offers from different schools to play at dances and assemblies. On Nov. 25 they will travel to Panguitch to play at the Harvest Har-vest Ball. Kathy Killam and Shelly Bird will accompany the combo to Snow College on Dec. 2 to play for an hour-long hour-long assembly. The combo has contributed much to our school by playing at assemblies and dances. RED CROSS The Red Cross held a meeting meet-ing last week to discuss what they are going to do in the forthcoming months. They decided that on special holidays they would fix up a few favors and take them to the elderly people of Milford. One of the duties of the Red Cross is to start an enlistment drive in the near future. SENIOR PLAY TRYOUTS The Senior Play tryouts were held Tuesday night and were very successful. Each person having a part has a lot of hard work and study ahead of him. The play, "Grandpa ' Steps Out," is a three-act farce comedy. The production will be directed di-rected by Senior Class advisors advis-ors Mr. Garthe Johnson and Mr. Swain, and the Speech Teacher, Miss Joseph. Purpose of the play is to raise funds for the Senior Sluff whcih will be held sometime in the latter part of the year. "SADIE HAWKINS WEEK" ON ITS WAY "Run, Tom!
