Show LITTLE LEAGUE HAS NEW 'PITCHING MACHINE'; NEW OFFICERS NAMED The Milford Little League held a very success'vil dinner at the Elementary School Wednesday, May 20th. Purpose of the dinner was tD raise funds to purchase an autorratic pitching lschire, wh;ch was on display durin.e the dinner. The machine had just arrived and had net yet been put to use. Eac hteam will be assigned a certain cer-tain day of the week for the n to us- the machine for extensive ex-tensive batting prrctice. It can be adjusted to pitch hih or low', or slow or fast pitches. It is anticipated that this machine will help build confidence, and the batting average of each boy on every team. Little League officials feel that this dinner should become an annual affair to raise funds to purchase necessary equipment equip-ment and uniforms as needed. Special thanks for the success of the dinner is extended to the Hi Land Dairy Ass'n and to all other organizations, parents par-ents and individuals for their donations and assistance. New Little League officers for the coming year are Bob Wright, president; Harold Edwards, Ed-wards, vice president; Barbara Mayer, secretary; Joan Long, treasurer; Roy Young, player agent. Clark Dalton and Sheldon Shel-don Albrecht are chief umpires um-pires and farm team managers. Mary Long is corekeeper, Billie Long, groundskeeper, and Thea Young and Shirleen-Hardy Shirleen-Hardy are in charge of the concession stand. There are four teams competing. com-peting. The Mets are managed man-aged by Wayne Hardy and sponsored by Milford business establishments; the Jets, sponsored spon-sored by Valley Builders and Majestic Oil . & Mining, are managed "by LuDean Barnes; Don Heath and Al Williams are. managers of the Jefferson Merc- sponsored Cubs, and Al Bealer manages the Bees, sponsored spon-sored by John Jimenez and Charles Atkin. First game of the season was played May 21. One game is scheduled each night, five nights a week. The regular season will end about July 13, allowing a week for the All-Stars All-Stars to prepare for the annual an-nual tournament. Game time each night is 5 p. m. Hot dogs and other refreshments re-freshments are available at the concession stand. |
