"Clint" McShane, former Beaver County resident, has announced an-nounced his candidacy for Department De-partment of Utah American Le-f Le-f gion Commander. The election for department commander will be held at the annual department convention in Ogden in June. Mr. McShane, present treasurer treasur-er of the organization, was a member of the original 29-man committee which organized the Department of Utah in 1919, and applied for the charter for Beaver Post No. 32 in September of that year. He was first commander com-mander of the Beaver Post. Among the many Legion offices he has held, besides post commander, com-mander, are post adjutant, post service officer, post baseball chairman, Boys State committee, district commander, district adjutant, Department employment chairman, Department junior baseball committee, department traesurer for the past five years, area employment chairman (a national appointment), and many other important committees. He has been a Legionnaire for 42 years, belonging to local posts at Beaver, Richfield, Bingham, Salt Lake Post 2, Salt Lake Post 133, and Salt Lake Post 125. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1917, and served as torpedo -man aboard the USS South I Dakota, on convoy duty, thruout I World War 1. |
