Show Cedar City Girls Win Beaver Softball Tourney The Cedar City Girls Softball team went on to take the championship champ-ionship Thursday evening of last week in the second night of play in the Beaver Invitational tournament. tourna-ment. The Minersville Girls team, who held the champs to a 12-10 score in the championship finale, won second place in the tourney. Beaver took consolation honors with a 15-13 win over the Parowan Paro-wan team in the first game played Thursday evening. First night's play, as reported last week, resulted in a 13-3 victory for Minersville over Parowan in the opener and a 3 to 2 win for Cedar City over Beaver in the second game, in which Cedar went ahead in the last inning of a real thriller. Trophies, contributed by Beaver business houses, were awarded to the following girls as outstanding players. Julie Ann Farrer, Lenora Murdock, and Joyce Joseph, Beaver; Bea-ver; Jean Dotson and Susan Gillins, Minersville; Brenda Bentley, Parowan; Paro-wan; and Maudell Smith, Phyllis Chatterly, and Betty Helland, Cedar Ce-dar City. As a testimonial of appreciation for her expert and untiring work with and for the Beaver girls, Mrs. Janell Farrer was presented with a nice gift on behalf of the members mem-bers of the Beaver Girl team. |
