Show tinez, Calif. Mr. Ramsey, husband of Rhoda Sherwood Ramsey, died after a heart attack. home Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Arwell "Bud" Campbell and children chil-dren of Salt Lake City. They were on their way to California and Mrs. Jessie Myers, a sister to Mr. Campbell, Camp-bell, joined them on their trip. Nancy Dotson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Dotson, who has been employed at Grand Canyon National Park, has completed her work there and is now at home. Carter, accompanied by his' children, Mrs. Bernice Gillins, Mrs. Gertrude Carter, and Cal Carter, traveled to Las Vegas Monday night to visit DeWayne Carter pri-' or to his undergoing an operation - in Los Angeles. A nerve in his back is causing him considerable pain and difficulty in one of his legs. The group is returning home Tuesday evening. Heber Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs.j Dan Davis, underwent an opera-: tion in the Beaver County Hospital1 Saturday morning. Surgery was, performed by Dr. Milligan, Dr.! Thong, and Dr. Symond. Heber in-! jured his knee during school last year and the cartilage had to be removed. Mr. and Mrs. Neal Gressman are owners of a . 1959 station wagon. j Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carter also are ; driving a new automobile. Mr. and Mrs. Mart Davis became first-time grandparents July 16. with the birth of a baby daughter) .to Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Thomas! of Beaver at Beaver County Hos-: tpial. ' ' Visitors from Las Vegas Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Martin were Mr. and Mrs. Orvillej Martin and mother, Mrs. Cora Martin. On Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Garn Eyre and daughter of Las Vegas visited their father, Joey! Eyre, who is bedfast. His condition remains about the same. An outing group at Big Maple Tuesday evening included Mr. and. Mrs. Vance Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Eyre, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Marshall, Mar-shall, Mr. and Mrs. John Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Marshall, and Mrs. Nona Miles. Dian Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karen Carter, was guest of ( honor Tuesday afternoon at a swimming party at Beaver, in hon-j or of her 10th birthday. Her. friends were taken in the Carter car and some in the car of Mrs.' Reva Williams. After a delightful swim, the group ate refreshments served by Mrs. Carter at Beaver City Park. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yardley and two sons left Beaver last week to make their home in Montana with parents of Joe. Mrs. Yardley is the former Verlene Gray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Gray. The home of Mrs. Alba Gillins has been razed and the ground cleared preparatory to erecting a new home for Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Gillins. The work is to be done by Carter Brothers, who have of Bishop and Mrs. Marshall Hol-lingshead, Hol-lingshead, given at the latters' home. The honored youngsters received re-ceived many lovely gifts. i Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Boyter and family visited in Panguitch Sunday with members of the Boyter fam-.' ily. Clinton Ray returned home the same day after spending a week's vacation there. Son Wayne celebrated cele-brated his 11th birthday Monday and a party was given in his honor. Mrs. Erva Goodwin of Ely, Nevada, Ne-vada, who had spent a month with her mother, Mrs. Polly Baker, departed de-parted Saturday for California to be with a daughter who underwent a thyroid operation. Mrs. Ethel Baker of Caliente is here and expects ex-pects to remain for a week. Mrs. Baker stated she is feeling much better. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bonner and family visited Sunday with their mother, Mrs. Alta Kelsey. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rollins and Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Marshall! motored to St. George Saturday. In the St. George LDS Temple they met Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Cor-bridge Cor-bridge of Trona, California, who were married in the temple and had their two children, Kenneth and Barbara, sealed to them. The 30 books loaned to the Min-ersville Min-ersville Library by the State Library, Li-brary, ranging from readers to story books for children in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades in school, are being widely circulated, according to Mrs. Marybelle Eyre, librarian. A few books which would interest teenagers also were received. Books in general seem to be circulating cir-culating very well, Mrs. Eyre stated, stat-ed, but there are quite a number, of books over-due and a list will be posted this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tanner arrived ar-rived in Minersville Sunday evening eve-ning and spent Monday at Panguitch Pan-guitch with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wun-derlich Wun-derlich of Miford. A birthday party par-ty for Mrs. Nell Eyre will be given during the week, while they are here. Mrs. Eyre will be 78 years of i age. A group visiting St. George LDS1 Temple last week consisted of Bishop Marshall Hollingshead and Counselors Dotson and Truman and their wives. Visitors at the Ernest Myers' the school contract, and is expected to begin immediately. Miss Shirleen Davis, our Centennial Cen-tennial Queen, was home over the week-end from Cedar City, where she is employed by the telephone company. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jameson and baby son Scott of Las Vegas are here, spending a two-week vacation va-cation with Mr. Jameson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Jameson. Harold is recuperating slowly from a heart ailment. Penny Patterson, daughter of the Heber Gillinses, attained her 16th birthday July 9 and some of her! friends, Kenna Lou Kelsey, LaNae Puffer, Jean and Joan Eyre, and Leah Ruth Dalton, were treated to1 a show at Milford. On their return' home, they enjoyed a menu of waffles, bacon, and eggs, at the Gillins home. Penny received a' nice gift from the group. I Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carter made' a trip to .Salt Lase City Friday ' night, traveling as far as Nephi the first night and then on to the Utah1 capital to attend the Roberts re-j union. Primary purpose of the, trip was to take to the reunion Mrs. I Edith Bradfield, oldest living mem- , ber of the Roberts family. Accompanying Accomp-anying the group were Mr. and Mrs.l Verl Holdaway and Mrs. Alba Carter. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mar- shall and their four children also were in attendance. Mrs. L y n e e a Marshall and1 daughter Lacy visited several days' in California recently with Mr. and Mrs. Fay Hall. Mrs. Hall is the former Esta Nowers. Kathy Truman, 11, celebrated her birthday Monday. Mrs. Lelia Carter returned home Tuesday following an operation and is recuperating very well. Her daughters-in-law, Mrs. Barbara Carter, Mrs. Arline Carter, and Mrs. Donna Carter; her mother, Mrs. Drue Hall; and Mrs. Janice Roberts, her daughter, have been very good to Lelia in her illness. Their help has been greatly appreciated. appre-ciated. The Pinochle Club met last week' at the home of hostess Mrs. ,Bon-j nie Myers. Prizes were won by Mrs. Lois Carter, Mrs. Emma Davis, and Mrs. Donna Carter, low prize. Each month gifts are given to those having have had birthdays during the month. Mrs. Merle Gillins and Mrs. Barbara Carter qualified on this occasion and received beautiful beauti-ful gifts. Mrs. Myers served a plate lunch. Members of the Sunday School class studying History of the Restored Re-stored Church, under direction of Mrs. Emily Gillins, had a summer party at the swimming pool in Beaver Bea-ver Thursday evening of last week. The group was transported to and from Beaver by Mrs. Phyllis Truman Tru-man in a pickup. After two hours of swimming, the group gathered at the city park to eat their lunches lunch-es and most of them took in a show. Those present were Jan Truman, Kenneth Hollingshead, Richard Al-brecht, Al-brecht, Jean Dotson, Deanna Potter, Pot-ter, Ronald Myers, Judy Fails, Mary Lou Bradfield, and Allen Dotson. Mrs. Merle Gillins was hostess at a lawn party in her honor Friday evening of last week, the occasion being her birthday. Those attending attend-ing and enjoying an evening of visiting vis-iting and refreshments, consisting of barbecued hamburgers and all I the trimmings, were: Mr. and Mrs.l Lee Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Karen Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Carter, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Myers, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Eyre were invited invit-ed but were unable to be present. Mrs. Gillins was presented with a nice gift from the group. Monday, July 13, was the date of a double birthday party, given for Julie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Hollingshead, and Duke, son |
