Show Beaver National Guard Unit Is Reorganized The unit designation and colors of the "Fighting 213th," Utah National Na-tional Guard, have been retired to Washington, D. C. with the reorganization re-organization of the Army National Guard of the United States, under the new Pentomic concept of warfare, war-fare, The Press is informed by Master Sergeant Robert D. Osborn. Effective July 1, Service Battery, 213th FA Bn., Beaver, Utah was reorganized re-organized with 36 men and four officers, with a unit designation of Service Battery, 2d Howitzer Battalion, Bat-talion, 222d Arty. The new desig- nation and reorganization conforms! to the Pentomic concept of war- fare, which includes employment of artillery, rockets, and missiles! as supporting firepower for airborne air-borne and infantry units. The 222d Artillery will long be: remembered by lormer Guard members and. Veterans of World War II as the Southern Utah National Na-tional Guard at the outbreak of war, with headquarters at Richfield. Rich-field. Firepower of the Battalion also has been changed, as the 8-inch Atomic Howitzer has been transferred trans-ferred to units of me 1st Bn., 222d Arty, in the Logan area, and the 155-mm Howitzer (Towed) issued to the firing batteries of the 2d Bn., located at Richfield, Fillmore, and St. George. Athough retired, the 213th FA Bn. will be remembered by all who served with the unit in Korea through the battle campaigns that brought honor and glory to the officers of-ficers and men of Utah's finest fighting forces. |
