Show I Dairy District ! Derby Features Beaver Race Card Excitement is running high in Beaver and surrounding area as the day approaches for the annual Dairy District Derby, with five I horses competing this year for the $725 prize money. Friday's activities, in addition to seven top feature races, will be centered around the annual July 24th gala celebration. i Leon Swindlehurst will serve as marshal of the day for the big parade, pa-rade, which will form on the street! north of the Belknap and everyone must be ready to take their place in the lineup not later than 10 o'clock Friday morning. From the Belknap school, the parade will proceed south along Main street to the postoffice, where it will turn and proceed over the same route to the disbanding point at the place of beginning. Thus, everyone will have a good opportunity to view the various floats and other features, on which a lot of time and hard work has been expended. The following program will be presented in the Firmage theatre immediately following the parade, with the queens to be seated on the stage: Presentation of Colors, by Beaver Bea-ver American Legion. Prayer. Welcome talk by representative of Beaver Sunday School Committee. Commit-tee. Singing by congregation. Selections by band. Saxophone solo, Bill Twitchell. Violin duet. Number by "Old-Time Quartet". Closing prayer. Sports for the children of all ages, with plenty of prizes, will take ph-.ce east of the DUP building build-ing on City square while the program pro-gram is in progress. All this will take place and be finished in good time before the races to feature the second day of the three-day Race Meet, for which horses have been gathering for ten days or more. Feature of Friday's race card will be the $400 Invitational, announced an-nounced last week. For Saturday. ' the feature will be the annual Dairy District Derby for a purse of up to $1000.00. There will be big dances to top off each day's races and other ' attractions. |
