Show 1 ' Bui 9 JteaiA To The Mayor and City Councilmen, City of Milford. Has Milford's only park been rcn::iii-d? Lately, we never hear the park referred to by its correct name, American Legion Park, but always al-ways as City Park. The latest improvements have been made by the city (swimming pool); Lions Club (stone fireplaces and picnic tables) and ESA So rority (playground equipment), but The American Legion originally origi-nally purchased the land, planted the lawn and trees and after nursing nurs-ing the grass, shrubs and shade trees until they were mature and I required only ordinary mowing ! and watering care, deeded the park site to the City of Milford. And at that time there was darned little grass and very few trees in the entire city; almost no shrubs. ' I We think the park should continue con-tinue to be known by its original name: "American Legion Park." - - Milford Post No. 16. Mike Brimbetry and El wood Jefferson Jef-ferson proudly proclaim that Mil-ford's Mil-ford's first tourist court will open for business this week end. The 15-unit motel is attractive, ultramodern ultra-modern with the latest innovations in comforts offered the traveling public, and is a real asset to the community. Another gripe about the new system of "speeded up" mail service ser-vice for Utah: We've just learned that letters for Milford mailed in Beaver on Saturday morning, which formerly were delivered in Milford Saturday evening, now lay in Beaver until Monday morning before they're dispatched. And we understand the Milford garages are pretty unhappy. They formerly could phone Cedar City for needed auto parts, and they'd be here the next morning. Now with the speeded up mail service it's two and sometimes has been three days before they received the parts, while the customer's car stood on a jack waiting for the repair job. It's nice, though, to know that folks in far-away corners of Utah the benefitting from the new, im-proved im-proved mail delivery system. Dr. Symond advises that from July 20 to August 7 a Red Cross safety film, "Teaching Johnny to j Swim," will be featured frequently on the. KSL-TV "Romper Room" . program. Quite a bit of excitement Monday Mon-day night, when Milford officers were alerted to a jail break at Beaver. Information was sketchy, or incomplete, in-complete, and the local officers were well armed and awaiting the arrival of the desperados, and the highway patrolmen at Cedar, Para-gonah, Para-gonah, Richfield, Fillmore and Delta, and Deputy Richardson at Garrison, were all on the lookout for the desperadoes. Turned out it was a couple of juveniles, runaways from their homes in California, and Sheriff Fillmore had been holding them for their parents. They were re-apprehended near Fillmore. |
