Show Three Milford Youths GetLDS Church 'Duty to God' Award Three Milford youths have qualified qual-ified for the coveted L D S "Duty to God" Award, and recently received re-ceived the colorful skull and ribbon rib-bon medal in a sacrament meeting presentation. They are Billy Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Martin; Larry Lofthouse, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lofthouse, and Roger Myers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Myers. The Duty to God Award is presented pre-sented by the LDS Church to Boy Scouts who have achieved at least the First Class rank, who are between be-tween the ages of 12 and 18, and who have fulfilled certain requirements require-ments including earning the Aaronic Priesthood certificate for four consective years, attended Sunday iscnool at least li ot the time; attended at least 75 of the regular YMMIA weekly meetings for four years. jid officially registered regis-tered as a Bey Scout or Explorer Scout for four years. Objectives of the Duty to God Award are to teach the boys to recognize God as their Father, to respect and obey His laws, and to be grateful for all His blessings. The buffalo skull of the award symbolizes the great pioneer heritage her-itage of the Mormon Church, and represents the perseverence, courage cour-age and faith of the pioneers in their historic trek across the plains. |
