Show Dave McKnight Feted On 90th Anniversary The 90th birth anniversary of D. R. McKnight, Minersville's oldest old-est resident, will be celebrated Dec. 13 at an open house at his home. Mr. McKnight was 'born in Min-ersville Min-ersville in 1868 to James and Sarah Ellen Howell McKnight. He has been a farmer and rancher thruout his life, and at the age of 65 rode horseback for 70 miles to Blue Mountain and return, gathering stray cattle. His last horseback ride was at age 85. He married Alice Eyre of Min-ersville, Min-ersville, Aug. 5, 1891. She died in 1939. He has two living children, Stanley McKnight, with whom he resides, and Glen McKnight of Milford, 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He has been active in civic and , political affairs. He has served ' as president of the town board (several terms), county commissioner, commis-sioner, president of the Minersville Reservoir and Irriation Co., and was one of the first school trustees, trus-tees, serving with the group that arranged to bond the district to build the present Minersville school. Ail frends are invited to the open house, Saturday from 2 until 7 p. m. The family requests no gifts. |
