Show Hews of Beaver IfMgb By JULIE ANN FARRER ELECTIONS UNDER WAY After primary elections held last week many students have the honor of running for offices representing our school for the 1958-59 school year. Candidates who were selected in the primaries are: For Student Body President Joe Murdock and Gary Pickard; For Vice-President Abe Gillies Gil-lies and Maurine Myers; For Secretary Carlie Foth-eringham Foth-eringham and Allie Muir; For Treasurer Lynn McKee and Gerald Myers; For Social Manager Nancy Marshall and Edith Yardley; For "B" Staff Editor Lynn Draper, and Assistant Editor, Karen Hutchings (unopposed). Radio Representative Spencer Spen-cer Stevens and Dee Hollings-head; Hollings-head; Cheer Leaders (three 1o be elected) Norma Davis, Julie Ann Farrer, Vickie Griffiths, Janet Lelis, Marge Pearce, and Diane Riley. Song Leaders (two to be elected elect-ed Kay Anna Baldwin, Jean Eyre, Marie Grimshaw, Penny Patterson; ' Advertising Manager Terry Gregersen (unopposed). Posters and banners line the halls as these students campaign. cam-paign. The two parties are the "Jets" and the "Sputniks," and interest is running high. Campaign Cam-paign assembly was held Wednesday Wed-nesday and final voting scheduled sched-uled for Thursday. BEAVER WINS SUPERIOR RATING At the Forensic Meet held last Friday and Saturday at the U of U, Ruth Fillmore and Julia Ann Farrer brought honor to Beaver High by placing "superior" "su-perior" in oratory. These two girls received two of the four "superior" ratings in oratory given to Class B schools. They were accompanied to Salt Lake by John Borchert, speech instructor. in-structor. On Saturday, April 12, Diane Riley and Marie Grimshaw will enter pantomimes in the State Drama Festival at the B Y U. PROM FRIDAY "Prom '58" will be a dance to be remembered as the Beaver Juniors put final touches on "Sail Along Silv'ry Moon." The dance is scheduled for Friday, April 11, and promises to be the social event of. the year. The Juniors will be honored hon-ored during the floor show, and a record crowd is expected. |
