This year is no exception. Editor-in-chief Functioning as editor-in-chief is Linda Nimori. She is working towards a double major in English and communications with an emphasis in public relations. Nimori began working on the Signpost last year. "I found that the only place I could really get the skills I needed in copy editing was at the Signpost, and that's why I applied for the position last year." Although Nimori hadn't considered applying for the position ofeditor-in-chief before last spring, she was encouraged to apply by others on the staff who recognized her organizational abilities. "I never thought that my work here would expand in any way, but I wouldn't change anything that's happened."As editor-in-chief, Nimori's responsibilities are varied. She is responsible for the editorial staff and works closely with the managing editor in handling any problems. She is specifically responsible for the editorial page and will be doing some writing along with helping the overall production of the paper. Public relations is an important part of the editor-in-chief's position, and Nimori has been busy interviewing the WSC faculty. "I've already interviewed all of the deans and President Stephen D. Nadauld and have found it a very pleasant experience getting to know these people. "There are many advantages to working on the Signpost. It teaches you to work under deadlines and to work fast and accurately. The cohesiveness of the staff is another advantage. You feel like Loretta Park Ass't Advisor you belong someplace special. It's a uni que experience." Nimori is a non-traditional student who expects to graduate in 1988. She is taking a little longer than originally planned in order to devote more time to her position and to the honors program which she recently joined. "I enjoy t Weber State because you get that social interaction between the student and the professor," said Nimori. Managing editor "I feel we have a good staff. I think they are very competent and that they are more motivated than staff we've had in the past and that excites me," said JaNae Barlow, this year's managing editor. x. In this position, Barlow is responsible; for managing the paper. This includes seeing that deadlines are met and that, the news is newsworthy. She is also i responsible for the front page. "My main concern is that wi Kavex good layout on our paper. I think that no matter how good your stories are or how newsworthy or interesting, if they're not arranged on the paper in a way that draws the reader in, they won't get read," said Barlow. Some of her other goals are to have good news, be objective, to have no major mistakes, and to see everyone doing their job efficiently and independently. Barlow states personal satisfactions the greatest benei "IV of worVirvg on lht? paper. She likes being able to make deci-V sions instead of being told what to do. "It's kind of my baby," she said. "The average student just doesn't have the opportunity to interview Pre dent Nadauld. Most people just can'i. get an interview with them and ask them the question that they've been dying to know, and that's exciting," said Barlow.
