The beginning stage production, The Music Man, was held during the first part of July. The following musical, Gypsy, was presented during the middle of July. Closing the Utah Musical Theatre's 1986 summer season was a stage duo musical called Do! I Do.'. According to several actors from New York who performed with the Utah Musical Theater (UMT), well-known Chicago-based director Seth Reins, who directed the UMT during its summer season, selected Ogden for theater pro- aclk to Sclioo. At the close of the Utah Musical Theater's sixth annual summer season, it was evident that the three productions presented proved successful. "If the support for this organization increases within the next couple of years, the Utah Musical Theatre will start bringing in big celebrities to act in the various roles of each show," said one actor. In its seventh year next summer, the Utah Musical Theater will show four productions that Ogdenites can look forward to: Hello Dolly! the bold and brassy Broadway musical about America's favorite matchmaker. The Pirates of Penzance the popular modern adaptation of Gilbert and Sullivan's best loved comic opera. The 1987 summer season's dates will be advertised at a later time. The Utah Musical Theater hopes that the public will take advantage of its presence and become a part of this live professional theater.
