Show 6 Tuesday, October 26, 1982 Win $1000 As part of a continuing program to focus attention on the housing crisis facing the nation during the 1980's, the National Association of -Home Builders is sponsoring a national essay contest. Under the theme, "What do you expect in terms of location, density, design and financing in tomorrow's homes and how will their fe'elings about how the economy and the housing market will affect their lives. Any student who wishes to participate in this contest is encouraged to do so. The rules are the essay must be 500 to 1000 words in length, and typewritten. The student entering must be a registered full time college student. All entries are to be submitted to the National Association of Home Builders, Public Affairs-Student Program, 15th &M St, Washington, D.C., 20005. The winners will be selected by an independent panel of judges and notified during the last in contest week in December. The first place winner will receive a $1000 cash award, the second place winner will recieve $750 in cash and third place will earn $500 cash award. First, second and third prize winners will be flown to Washington for presentation of cash awards and plaques at a date to be determined. All manuscripts will become the property of the National Association of Home Builders and the rights of the publication become solely theirs. Handicap awareness activities announced Handicap Awareness Day will be held Thursday, November 11. Corey Burton, activity chairman said, "We would like people to become more aware of the handicap people's problem by making them aware of their barriers." Tom Sullivan, whose story was made into a movie, "If You Could See What I Hear," will highlight the day. One of the purposes of the contest was to aquaint students with the facilities on campus. The winners were Beverly Mair, Bonnie Michelson, Val Laramee, Kathy Havey, Pat Jorgensen, Sally Christiansen, Margaret Kafton, Doug Boraas, Carolyn, Chow, Melanie Wood, Jan Yates Debra Combs, Karen Metzler, Patty noon in the Austad Theater Kicking off other events will be archery Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. with bowling in wheelchairs at five in the WSC bowling alley. Signs will block off clocks around campus and various stairways will be blocked off and some restrooms will be closed so that students can realize some of the barriers that the handicap have. Some of the prizes given away were two Skyroom passes a $10 mealticket to the snackbar, four parking permits anywhere on campus for one week. Cosmetology donated one manicure, one shampoo set and one facial. The bookstore donated two T-shirts. Registration Holds will be placed on all Registered Students who have outstanding Campus Parking citations on Oct. 30. All violation penalties will increase four dollars per citation after Oct. 30th.
