Show 2 Tuesday, October 26 1982 Photo department head dies after a long illness Fred Stratford Rabe, WSC Photo Department Chairman died Thursday, Oct. 21 at the University of Utah Medical Center following an extended illness.He was born March 5, 1918 in Ogden, a son of 3 w V 30-80 Fred C and Maude Stratford Rabe. On June 21, 1950 he married Helen Smith in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.He graduated from Ogden High School in 1936. He graduated from fcs -i Photo by Parley N. He graduated with honors from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in agronomy. He recieved an M.S. Degree from the University of Utah in 1971 in earth sciences. He had done post graduate work at Winona School of Photography in Warsaw, Indiana graduating with honors. He had worked for the U.S. Forest Service, General Mills and Rabe Studios. In 1945 he began teaching at WSC in physics, chemistry and agronomy. In 1946 he started the current photography department at WSC. He was an advisor to Alpha Rho Omega, fraternity at WSC and was a member of the WSC Alumni Association Emeritus Club. He was popularly know among his students as the "Absent minded professor." He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters. Off Yearbook by Cherilyn Kawa Staff Reporter Unless the remaining 150 copies are bought, the Weber State College yearbook will go the way of thp Edsel, the dinosaur, an cheap gasoline; a relic c. the past, extinct and out of print. According to Stuart Thatcher, yearbook editor, the remaining books must be sold before funds are released on next year's books. Yearbooks are presently on sale for $15 in the bookstore and the yearbook office, room 315 in the Union building. "One reason for the left over books is that many students are unaware that they are here," Thatcher said. To remedy this problem, a telephone campaign began this week to contact every student whose picture is in the yearbook. We really need the students' help and support to continue the yearbook tradition," Thatcher said.
