Show SAY8 JOUBERT IS AMERICAN. Deelarc to Belong to One of the Best Families In Lonlsiaua. St Louis, Mo., Dec. 18. Captain J. T. Anderson, general western agent here of the Georgia railroad, has received re-ceived a letter from Colonel Lamar Fontaine, an ex-confederate of Lyons, Miss., in which he says that General Joubert, the Boer commander, is a na-i na-i tive of Louisiana, belonging to on of the best families there. Colonel Fontaine says that Joubert commanded a Louisiana regiment in the civil war, and served under Stonewall Stone-wall Jackson, from whom he learned the art of war. After Appomraatox, Colonel Fontaine says, General Joubert went to Egypt, and afterwards to South Africa, where he organized the Boer frontier police. |
