Visiting friends and transacting business in St. George last Saturday Sat-urday were Mrs. W. A. Kent, her son, Hugh, wife and small daughter, daugh-ter, Edna Lou, from the Flying Diamond ranch on the Arizona Strip. , Accompanying their cousin, Harold Har-old Hafen, home from Los Angeles An-geles to visit over Saturday and Sunday were his cousins, the Misses ' Helen and Clara Woods, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Woods. This was their first visit with the Hafens in several years. Mrs. Reed Fuller and two small children spent last week in Leeds visiting relatives. The previous Sunday evening the entire Fuller family was present to give the program in the Leeds Sacrament services. The Foster camp D. U. P. will hold tjjeir February session Thursday, Thurs-day, the 18th, at 3 p. m., at the home of Mrs. Bert Hardy on Diagonal street. . A full attendance attend-ance of members is desired. Pfc. Vernon Hemenway left with the bus Monday morning to rejoin his regiment in Canada. Calvin Dalton left Sunday for Salt Lake City, where he has employment. em-ployment. He returned recently from work on defense projects in eastern Nevada, where he has spent the past several months. Lester Cottam took the Tuesday Tues-day afternoon bus for Santa Ana, Calif., where he will report for service in the Army air corps. He enlisted in this branch of the service in August of 1942 and has awaited his orders since that time. He is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. H. . C. Cottam, to enter military service. His brother, Dr. A. H. Cottam returned recently re-cently from two months of intensive in-tensive training at Miami Beach, Fla., to Buckley Field, Denver, where he is in the medical division di-vision of the Army air corps. -st- Mrs. Orson Hall returned Saturday Sat-urday from' Pine Valley, where she has been snowed in for two weeks. Their l daughter, Miss Adelia Hall left Monday evening for Salt Lake City on business, and their son, Arlo Hall has his orders to report . in Santa Ana, Calif.,, Feb. 12th to enter the Army air corps. it & Mrs. Vera Mitchell returned Monday morning from Orem and Provo, where she spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Edward Simmons. She was accompanied home by Mrs. Edward Simmons, her daughter, the former Margaret Marg-aret Mitchell, who will remain with her for the present, while her husband, an Ensign in the Naval reserve, is studying in Oakland, Oak-land, Calif. Mrs. Frank Riding returned Tuesday from Salt " Lake City, where she has been for the past three weeks receiving medical treatment. The January meeting of the Athena club was held on the evening eve-ning of the 27th at the home of Mrs. Mattie Empey, with Mrs. Jos. W. McAllister as co-hostess. The program featured two biographies, biog-raphies, "The Life of Lucy Reid", being given by Mrs. H. L. Reid, and that of "Margaret Sanger", by Margaret Bradford. Lunch was served to 14. Mrs. Robert Pickett was hostess to the Bridge Ettes on Monday evening. First prize was won by Mrs. Willard Milne, second by Mrs. Elmer Harmon and a guest prize was won by Mrs. Wayne Whitehead. Special guests for the narty were Mrs. Whitehead. Mrs. Clawson Burgess and Mrs. Marion Bowler. Mrs. E. B. Syphus will give the review during the Library Hour at 8 o'clock next Sunday evening. She will review. "Inside Latin America", by John Gunther. Mrs. R. N. Ashby and small son. Bobby, returned Monday night with Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Fenton from a visit in Salt Lake. Miss Ferol Paxman spent the week end in Salt Lake City visiting visit-ing friends. . 1 -: a a Mr. and Mrs. Lenzi Sullivan entertained the St. George post office employees and their partners part-ners at their home Wednesday evening. An informal dinner followed fol-lowed by discussions of current news topics and visiting. This is the first social for this group in 1943. .y. -X- 'if - Visiting last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Empey, was Mrs. Empey's brother, Henry Searl, who is shortly to enter military mil-itary service. Recent guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Wells was Mrs. Ronald Curd of Grand Junction, Junc-tion, Colo., a sister of Mrs. Wells. - Miss Margaret Jones spent the week end in Cedar City with relatives. rela-tives. Miss Lucille Hallam visited over Saturday and Sunday in Spring-ville Spring-ville with relatives. Mrs. William Brooks returned Wednesday morning from Salt Lake City, where she went to collect col-lect some material for her article which will appear in the next issue of the Utah Historical Quarterly. She was guest while there at the home of Mr. and Samuel Brooks. Enroute home, she visited with friends in Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Turnbeaugh Turn-beaugh were advised last week of the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Mack Turnbeaugh in Las Vegas. Mrs. Kurt Sanderson and son, Richard arrived Sunday from Los Angeles to visit for ten days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Baker. W. W. Cannon returned Tuesday Tues-day from Salt Lake City where he has been on business. Otto Fife was a St. George visitor Wednesday, from Cedar City. Mrs. Eleanor Smith was home over the week end from Richfield. Mr. and Mrs. Wilden Tweedie were here from Las Vegas Wednesday Wed-nesday on business. it- t w Leo A. Snow returned early Monday from Salt Lake City, where he had been to visit over Sunday with his brother, Dr. Lawrence Snow, who is ill. . Miss Edna Sorenson, formerly a nurse at the local hospital, arrived ar-rived Monday from Turlock, Calif., to visit with Mrs. B. G. Milne. Mrs. Mary A. Drake arrived Monday from Richfield. ..... ,t. ... Mr. and Mrs. Harold Miles received re-ceived word last Friday morning of the birth of an 8-pound baby girl to Mr. and Mrs. Shirl Pitch-forth, Pitch-forth, of Glendale, Calif. Mr.' and Mrs. Miles expect to leave St. George Friday evening for Glendale, Glen-dale, where Mr. Miles will spend the week end and Mrs. Miles will stay for ten days or so. , 'if if 'if Elmer L.
