Show VIRGIN Minerva Earl Reporter Cpl. Thomas H. Semmons arrived ar-rived Sunday from Camp Adair on furlough. His wife met him in Salt Lake City and they visited there for a few days. Pvt. James Cornelius left last Tuesday to return to his post at the Presidio at San Francisco. Mrs. B. M. Jones has gone to Las Vegas to spend a couple of weeks visiting with her family. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Maloney invited the young people up to their ranch at North Creek to a chicken supper on Sunday night. The occasion was the birthday anniversary of their son, Nelson. Miss Zelma Gifford of Spring-dale Spring-dale visited with friends here over the week end. The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Matthews is very ill at this time. Mrs. Mary Gardener and her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Em-mett Em-mett Flanigan and Mrs. Wealthy Bird are visiting with her children child-ren here. Petty Officer Everett Flanigan visited here with his sisters, Mrs. George Matthews, Mrs. Herbert Wood and Mrs. Blueford Beames for one day on his return to San Pedro, Calif. He has been in active service for three years and has been in several battles in the Pacific. He has been to his home in Provo on a 21-day leave. Farewell Honors Draftees A farewell party was given for Vernon Wilcox, Linden Spendlove and Odean Barney last Saturday night. They leave soon for induction in-duction into military service. Miss Leila Coleman, our school teacher and her students gave a patriotic program for the occasion which was very good. A skit was also given by Betty Flanigan and Corrinne Cornelius, and a song, "This Is the Army", by a group of girls. Refreshments of chicken, salad, pickles and bread and butter but-ter was served by the refreshment refresh-ment committee. |
