Now that the thirteen weeks basic training train-ing is over, we will have every Wednesday afternoon off for athletics. ath-letics. The regiment has been issuing is-suing athletic equipment to all the companies. The program is to be an elimination program. The athletics will consist of baseball, Softball, vollyball, horseshoe pitching, pitch-ing, boxing, and table tennis. This program should be a big interest and help to the men. During the past two weeks the time has been spent in battalion problems. Most of the time was spent in building roads and bridges. One day was spent at Morro Bay ferrying trucks across on a raft, the company constructed. The next weeks schedule will consist of a regimental convoy up to Atescadcro, which is twenty-five miles north of here. A program is to be given Monday night with Sergeant Grant Harris scheduled to give a reading at the program. A very good time has been promised prom-ised to all. We will bivouac up there for a day or two. Pvt. Eugene Gregerson and Pvt. James Hiatt entered the hospital this week. Gregerson for a minor operation and Hiatt injured himself him-self while on extended order. Besides Be-sides these two there are three more men from Company C in the hospital. They are Privates Payne, Zamalloa and Marion. All the rest of the men in the company are in fine shape. Now that the rain and I the cold weather are gone Hok-ness Hok-ness should be very scarce. I would like to thank you for sending me the copies of the News. The men enjoy reading it and finding out what is happening at home. |
