Show Fifty Relatives and Friends Attend Jarvis Reunion Monday Nite Tho children of the late George Frederick Jarvis entertained 50 relatives and friends at a memorial memor-ial party honoring the 94th birthday birth-day anniversary of their father, at the south ward chapel Monday evening. He was the eldest child of George and Ann Prior Jarvis coming from London to Boston with his parents at the age of 10 in 1857, and three years later to Salt Lake City, thence on to Dixie with the pioneers of 1861. Mrs. E. D. Seegmiller and Mrs. E. C. Thompson were in charge of the program which included group singing of L.D.S. hymns, "For The Strength of the Hills" and "True to the Faith." Known for his love of music and singing, the program featured several of of the numbers that were his favorites. Six small great-grandchildren, Janis Christian, Earl and Rose Marie Thompson, Allan Ward, Carl and LeRoy Jennings sang the old nursery rhyme song of the alphabet; the group sang, "Always View the Bright Side"; Jordan Smith and Royden Christian Chris-tian sang, "You and I", and Evelyn and Beulah Smith sang "Kiss Her Rosy Cheeks For Me," a number their father sent to the family while on his mission in England in the early eighties. |
