Show Municipal Power Proposal Vins Approval By Large Majority Tuesday J City Plans Immediate Action To Get System Established With a total of 1239 votes cast at the Municipal Power election held on last Tuesday, 952 voters .cast their vote for the power ordinance ordi-nance to 287 against to give the sponsors committee and City Council an overwhelming majority ; in their fight for a municipal system. sys-tem. Both the East and West Precincts Pre-cincts cast their votes in about the same proportion. The East cast a total of 650 votes with 512 for and 138 against while the :' West Precinct cast a total of 589 : votes with 440 for and 149 against. , Both groups staged last-minute meetings with shows and various entertainment provided in addition addi-tion to speakers. Crowds were small at these, showing that most ! of the voters had made up their j minds. A universal comment heard before the election was that, "we are tired of hearing so much discussion over the subject and will be glad when the election elec-tion is over". The City Council is going ahead with plans for the plant and are advertising for bids for equipment equip-ment and material in this issue of the News. |
