Show St. George C. of C. Holds Dinner-Confab for Visiting C. of C. Members "Getting together for greater future fu-ture accomplishment," was the theme of the steak dinner and confab staged Monday evening, Sept. 4th, by the board of directors direc-tors of the St. George Chamber of Commerce. The affair was held around the open fireplace on the rear lawns at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Williams. Plates were set for 40 guests, including nine directors from the Cedar City Chamber; five from Enterprise; Mayor D. C. Watson, the three county commissioners, and representatives of the St. George Rotary, St. George Lions, American Legion, Business men, and the St. George directors, and local highway officers. State highway officials and the Hurricane Hurri-cane Chamber of Commerce were also invited but were unable to attend for various reasons. Spirit of Cormradship A spirit of good comradship marked the entire evening's program, pro-gram, with James Judd, president of the St. George Chamber, toast-master. toast-master. Short talks were made by N. L. Marsden of Cedar City; Arthur P. Jones of Enterprise; Attorney At-torney LeRoy H. Cox; County Commissioner Newell R. Frei, and others. Each of the speakers stressed the value of comradship and urged the "burying of the hatchet" of sectional differences and interests, recognizing that larger benefits can come to the entire area through cooperation and unity. Suggestions were made on several possible post-war activities activ-ities for this area, and more of these "get-together" socials were tentatively planned. Special after dinner music was provided by Cecil Ocker and Carl Gifford, with guitar accompaniment, accompani-ment, followed by group singing and informal visiting around the blazing open fireplace. The dinner was prepared by Mrs. Roy Williams, Mrs. H. C. Thomas, Mrs. George H. Seeg-miller, Seeg-miller, Mrs. Ward Esplin and Mrs. K. M. Cannon. Mrs. Williams is Chamber of Commerce director from the K-P. W., and chairman of entertainments, and the other four women are wives of the directors. di-rectors. They were given a vote of appreciation for the excellent dinner. |
