Show Work Reported Progressing Satisfactorily In the Collection of Data Regarding Service Men Work is progressing in a fine way in the collection of soldier history information reports Roxey S. Romney, county Red Cross chairman. This project is launched under the direction of the County Red Cross and Mrs. E. J. Pickett, who is county record chairman, is devoting much time and energy to assembling the required information. informa-tion. She is ably assisted by women in each community. County Organized Already the county has been thoroughly organized and every soldier family home visited, resulting result-ing in obtaining of the desired dates and other facts for a large per cent of the boys now in military mili-tary service. However, some families fami-lies were not at home or lacked some information when visited, and the committees are sending out this call for needed data. A card index of soldier history is being set up, and when com- pleted will include the essential historical information for every j Washington county boy and girl in military service. The facts wanted for this recording are the full name of the man or woman in service; date of birth, (date month and year), place of birth; serial No.; branch of service; place and date of induction; name of father; name of mother; name of wife, if married; names of children, child-ren, in any. Parents, wives or other family members are urged to get. this information to Mrs. Pickett at the earliest date possible, pos-sible, where it has not already been given, cither sending it by mail direct to St. George or giving it to local Red Cross officials for forwarding. "Call on the officers, don't ask them to call on you", is the request of the county chairman, chair-man, but get the information in at once. Whn this information is received receiv-ed it will be properly recorded and will then furnish a vital community com-munity and county history for all t ime. |
