Show Proof That A Friendly, Courteous Service Pays, Seen In Letter To Alfreds Proof that it pays to render a friendly, interested service, is seen in a letter reeejved reeently by Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Allred of the Allred rafe and cabins at Spring-da Spring-da If. This letter was written to them by a Mormon missionary and tells of his rontaet with people who had stayer at the All-red All-red ramp and of their general reaction re-action to western hospitality. Following is the letter: Mareh 3. V.s2 Dear Fellow Missinnari-s: You are probably wondering ji j -1 who is writing and u hy they should start out in sueh a Strang" way. I really fee that you have te n rjoinj: marvelous mis-ionary work and I am writing to thank ou. After several sev-eral very interesting discussions with turn, we (md the pleasure of rrn-et ing Helen Duma'k, and she had the same opinion. j We have a fine i.et (,f colored I (Continued on page four) Allred Letter ! (Continued from first page) pictures of the West and we have shown them to many of the people. We have several of the parks of southern Utah and they relived their trips as the pictures were shown on the screen. At times, we as missionaries, get rather strange ideas that we are the only ones who are doing do-ing missionary work. That is far from true, as people in your position posi-tion can do a wonderful work, and it is evident that you have been doing just that. All of the people we meet, who have been in the West, marvel at how friendly the people in the West are. When we question them, it invariably comes out that they met someone like you who made them feel so much at home that they hated to leave. I'm certain that if more people spread the gospel by action, such as you do, it would make our work out here much more interesting inter-esting and productive. We have probably never met, but I hope that some time I may have the pleasure of meeting you and thanking you personally for your help in this great work. I think I never really appreciated appreci-ated what a wonderful heritage I have had given to me until I was permitted to see life without it. It may be the humbler life, but it is certainly much finer. After all, Christ lived the simple life. Best wishes always, Elder Swenson. P. S. I hope you will pardon my writing to your cafe, but I was not certain where else I might reach you. |
