Show Memorial Services Held At Virgin for Pfc. Willys Matthews VIRGIN, Utah Memorial services i were held at the Virgin ward : hall Sunday, Oct. 15, at 1:30 p. ' m. for Pfc. Willys Matthews, son .of Daniel Matthews of Virgin, who was killed in action in , France, Sept. 29. The services were under direction of the Ameri-, Ameri-, can Legion, Sterling Russell Post I No. 100, with Bishop Alma Flani- gan conducting. Music numbers included "My , Father Knows" and "Sometime, Somewhere", by a mixed chorus; There's A Star Spangled Banner r Waving Somewhere", directed by Mrs. Thora Spendlove. ' Speakers were Evan S. Lee of the Virgin bishopric; James Cor-i Cor-i nelius Sr.; Claud Hirschi, former : president of Zion Park stake; Commander Homer Englestead of ! the American Legion and J. Harvey Har-vey Hall, all of Hurricane, with brief closing remarks by Bishop ' Flanigan. Prayers were by Lola Cornelius and Reed Spendlove. The dedica- tion at the Virgin cemetery was by Claud Hirschi of Hurricane. |
