Show St. George Stake Primary Convention Held Here Saturday Representatives and Stake Presidents Present From AH Stake Wards -Officers and teachers of St. George Stake primary met in convention in St. George Saturday, Satur-day, Oct. 14, with Mrs. LeVern ParirJey and " Mrs. Zina Brock-bank Brock-bank as official visitors from the general board. Due to travel restrictions, re-strictions, this is the first time in three years that general board members have attended the primary pri-mary conventions of this area, reports Mrs. A. K. Hafen, St. George stake primary president. The meetings were held in the St. George stake Tabernacle, with representatives attending from all wards1 of the stake and a 100 per cent attendance of stake officers. A business meeting occupied the morning session, followed by a noon luncheon in the Tabernacle basement and a general session at 2 p. m. Also attending the convention con-vention were Vernon Worthen of the stake presidency and Lewis Christian, primary advisory mem-tier mem-tier of the stake high council. Mrs. A. K. Hafen reported on the activities of the St. Geoge. stake primary as the opening address ad-dress of the afternoon session. Mrs. Parmley, who is a sister of Coach Stanley Watts of Dixie college and first counselor to the president of the general board, chose as her subject, "Doers of the Word", emphasizing the great responsibility of primary instructors, instruct-ors, officers and leaders in training train-ing the children to be doers and not merely "hearers of the word". Mrs. Brockbank reviewed the primary pri-mary projects outlined for the year. The group then separated for departmental instruction and reports. A special feature of the convention con-vention was the exhibit of primary handicraft. Outstanding in the exhibit was the display from the south ward primary. This group continued their activities throughout through-out the summer and had made excellent ex-cellent progress and an' enviable record of achievement, reports I Mrs. Hafen. All of the wards had posters, record books and some items to exhibit. |
