I' I - - .1 . -,...-., 1 :$ '4-4 . , y, i BILL MORGAN, Slc RIMKLL REISER, SIc Raising A Beard Is No Problem for Rumell Reber Slc and His Seaman Buddy Raising a beard affords no problem prob-lem on the sea, explained Rumell Reber S 1c, when he was home in Littlefield, Arizona recently visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Peber and other relatives. As evidence, he gave them the above photo of himself and his buddy, Bill Morgan S 1c of San Francisco, showing their 4 Vz months beard growth. They had just returned from an eight months voyage around the world. Both are seaman gunners with Uncle Sam's Merchant Marines. Seaman Reber, who was a star football player at Dixie junior college, entered the service in August 1942 and has been around the globe twice during his more than two years on the sea. Among his many souvenirs of these voyages voy-ages are a knife and silk scarf from India, shoes from Egypt and a variety of shells and other items. I lis recent visit home w;ls his third short leave during two years. This time he dixked at New Orleans and had to report back to San Francisco, which gave him only five days at home. lie has two brothers in the service, Pfc. Gerald Reber is on a hospital ship and has Ix-en in the Mediterranean area for several sev-eral months. He telephoned home from Charleston, N. C. just an hour after R.umell left for San Francisco. The other brother. Max Lee Reber. left for induction just 24 hours after Rumell arrived and is taking his boot training in San Diego. |
