Show New Equipment Installed At Beet Plant Present Indications Point To Good Beet Seed Crop For 1940 Work of installation of new clipping clip-ping machine, draper- and dust collecting devices which commenced com-menced two months ago at the local Beet Seed Cleaning Plant has been completed at a cost of a little over $5000 and it is anticipated anti-cipated the recleaning of the beet seed crop will commence Monday, July 22, reports Moroni Jensen, district supervisor. "The entire crop of beet seed", states Mr. Jensen, "has been harvested har-vested and the threshing is now being done with five or six threshing thresh-ing machines. So far as we can determine at this time the crop looks like it would turn out very good". Germination tests are now being run at the seed plant to determine the per cent of germination of the1 seed and while none of this work has been completed indications are the germination of the seed will be fully as good as other years. In addition to the territories where the Utah-Idaho Sugar company com-pany have operated their plants for the manufacturing of sugar and where the home grown seed has been planted, the acreage throughout Sanpete and Sevier counties will be planted with the home grown seed next spring. The Utah-Idaho Sugar company purchased pur-chased the holdings and Sugar factory formerly operated in Sanpete San-pete county by Gunnison Sugar company. This transaction took place in the month of June and the Utah-Idaho Sugar company took over the management of the Gunnison Sugar company on the 21st of June of this year. |
