Show IMPROVEMENTS BEING MADE AT BEET SEED PLANT The building of the new ware houses by the Utah-Idaho Sugar company, on the property recently recent-ly purchased from the L. D. S. church, at 3t. George, is progressing progress-ing rapidly. Two new warehouses consisting of cement floors 8x8 timber framing and corregated iron sides and ends with an as-phelt as-phelt shingle covering, will be completed com-pleted in ample time for tho handling hand-ling of the present beet seed crop, which will be harvested during the months of June and July. It is estimated, by Moroni Jensen, district dis-trict manager, that in the two new warehouses will be able to store 20,000 bags of beet seed. Mr. Jensen declares it is also the intent of the sugar company to re-arrange the present beet seed cleaning machinery In the present warehouse which will double the capacity of seed cleaning per day. In the remodeling of the present machinery and additions thereto, he asserts that modern dust collectors col-lectors will be installed to take care of any dusty condition that might result from the cleaning of the beet seed. After tile new buildings are completed and the present warehouse ware-house has been repaired both inside in-side and out. it is the intent of the sugar company to level tho grounds and put them in a clean and bettor shape than they are at the present time. According to Mr. Jensen, tho beet seed crops that are now growing grow-ing are in excellent shape. The plants have carried through the I winter without receiving any damage dam-age whatsoever. During the month of February an application of our phosphale was applied to tho crop, and during the months oT March and April additional applications cf anionium sulphate will be add-fd. add-fd. It is estimated that at tho present time the average production produc-tion of 2 501) pounds will be produced pro-duced per acre. The best seed crop Is an excellent excel-lent crop in the rotation of crops grown on the farm. It Is a guarantee guar-antee cash return to the farmer and helps to create additional labor la-bor at least during the harvesting time, he said. |
