Show ST. GEORGE CAMP Last Saturday evening, December Decem-ber 12, Chaplain D. J. Henry, held religious services in the Mess hall for the entire company. The meeting was opened by singing sing-ing Christmas carols. The guest speaker of the evening was introduced, in-troduced, Dr. West, head of the Seminary work in St. George, who gave a short talk and discussion on tire influence of the birth of Christ on the world. The following morning another service was held, with musicians from St. George furnishing the music. Three members of Company 255S, Eldredge Blair, Ponso Wright and Schuyler Maggard, accompanied several missionaries to the Indian Reservation last Sunday, for the purpose of giving a musical for the religious services serv-ices held at the reservation. In Company 2 5 5S a contest is carried on from month to month, each morning the Commanding Com-manding officer and the Company doctor make a thorough inspection' inspec-tion' of each barrack and every other unit of the camp At the conclusion of the barrack inspection in-spection the barrack that is the neatest and cleanest is awarded a banner for the day. At the end of the month, the members of the barrack that has won the banner the most times is awarded award-ed a recreational trip of some nature. na-ture. For the month of November Novem-ber barrack three was the winner. For their efforts the boys were taken to Boulder Dam last Sunday. Sun-day. A special permit was obtained to take the boys into the innermost inner-most parts of the Dam. After inspecting the Dam, the group of fellows were taken for a boat ride on Lake Meade. The trip was one of educational value to the boys and was keenly eppreciated by every fellow who was fortunate enough to go on the trip. The group of boys was accompanied accom-panied and supervised by Cap- tain Fred Kilenk, Commanding officer, of-ficer, and K. G. Anderson, educational edu-cational advisor A baby girl was born to Capt. and Mrs. Fred Klenk in the Iron County hospital at Cedar City, Thursday December 3. Captain Klenk has been kept busy during the past ifew days accepting congratulations con-gratulations from friends, members mem-bers of his staff and enrollees of the company. On Friday evening even-ing everyone was treated to a cigar by Capt. Klenk in celebration celebra-tion of the event. Captain Vernon Peterson, district dis-trict Inspector for the Fort Douglas Doug-las District, arrived last Monday, December 7, to make his regular monthly ins p e c t i o n. After a through survey, he announced that he was very well pleased with the conditions of the camp, and gave an excellent rating to Camp DG-45. |
