Show CHRISTMAS DAY It is only a week and a day until Christmas Day, the R occasion that brings to so many children their delightful IT association with Santa Claus, whose annual visit into their homes is the sole topic in their minds for weeks. That this worthy character in the stress of his Christmas eve iv work, sometimes overlooks a home here and there is deeply -:i to be regretted and the blame rests, not upon the old gentle-i gentle-i man, himself, but upon his representatives in St. George l! who fail to provide him with necessary information, and assistance when needed. v;3 Christmas Day, however, brings to the mind of devout n,an an entirely different thought. In the eyes of the young it is a day of getting something desired from an 1 unknown visitor but in the wisdom of age it is a day of sol-d sol-d enin commemoration. Christian people revere it as the :-i day of the birth of their Savior and devoje a part of their i time at least, to the consideration of holy matters. :V It all the grown ups in St. George were truly devoted ! to the teachings of their Great Master they would find ? in the opportunity to make little children happy, an occa-"! occa-"! sion to practice what they have been taught. There would i be in all the confines of Washington County no sobbing ' youngster left in the wake of Santa Claus, the mysterious a giver, who impersonates to childish hearts all that is best ,J and true and generous in life. er Christmas Day should not be an occasion of reception a but rather of giving. It should not be, to grown people, at k least, any more than any other day, except that it marks J;, a great anniversary and affords one day out of all the year at on which mankind is urged to forget and spread happiness "i in the name of Jesus, ---v - -- - |
