Show NOTICE TO WATER USERS Office of State Engineer Salt Lake City, Utah, January 19, 1938. Notice is hereby given that John H. Schmutz, St George, Utah has made Application in accordance with the laws of Utah to appropriate ap-propriate 10 sec. ft. and 5400 ac. ft. of water from Navajo lake, North fork of Virgin river and Virgin river in Kane and Washington Wash-ington counties, Utah. It is proposed pro-posed to construct a dam across Navajo lake from north to south, the center of the dam being located locat-ed S. 80 deg. E. 13,950 ft. from the NW comer Sec. 12, T. 38 S., R. 9 W., SLB&M, thus making of the west portion of said lake a reservoir for the storage of natural natur-al inflow thereto. Water will be stored from January 1 to December Decem-ber 31, inclusive of each year, released re-leased and allowed to flow into the eastern portion of Navajo lake, from which it will drain naturally through sinks into a tunnel tributary tribu-tary to the North fork of Virgin river, the outlet of the tunnel being be-ing located N. 7 deg. 18 min. W. 3501 ft. from the E4 comer Sec.1 20, T. 38 S., R. 8 W., SLB&M. A bulkhead and control works will be constructed at the mouth of said tunnel to control, if practicable, practi-cable, the discharge through said sinks, thus causing the eastern portion of Navajo lake to serve also as a regulating' and storage reservoir. Said 5400 ac. ft. of water will be stored in whole in the west portion of Navajo lake, or, if practicable, part in the west and part in the east portion. The impounded waters will be released as needed from January 1 to December De-cember 31 inclusive of each year and allowed to flow Into the natural channel of Virgin river, from which it will be rediverted into existing canals at points as follows: (1) Hurricane canal, S. 15 deg. E. 1217 ft from NW corner cor-ner See. 29, T. 41 S., R. 12 W., SLB&M, (2) La Verkin Bench canal, S. 54 ft and W. 515 ft. from W comer Sec. 19. T. 41 S, R. 12 E., SLB&M, and (3) St George and Washington canal, S. 1150 ft. and E. 350 ft. from W comer Sec. 21. T. 42 S R. 14 W., SLB&M. Said water will be used as a supplemental supply to Irrigate Irri-gate 10,000 acres of land embraced in parts of Sees. 19, 30, 29 and 30, T. 38 3., R. 8 W Sea. 12. 13. 23, 24. 25, 26, 33, 34 and 35, T. 41 S., R. 13 W.; Sees. 2. 3. 4. 9 and 11, T. 42 S., R. 13 W.: Sees. 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 33. 34. 35 and 36, T. 42 S, R. 15 W.; Sees. 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 18, T. 43 S., R. 15 W.; Sees. 22 and 31. T. 42 S., R. 15 W.; Sees. 2, 13 and 24, T. 43 S.. R. 16 W., all from SLB&M, more specifically described describ-ed In the Application filed In the State Engineer's office. In addition to the aforesaid 5400 ac ft. of water, 1 sec. ft. will be diverted from the Virgin river into the La-Verkin La-Verkin canal. 2 sec. ft. into the Hurricane canal and 7 sec. ft. into the St. George and Washington canal and used from January 1 to December 31 inclusive of each year to irrigate the lands hereinbefore herein-before described. This Application is designated in the office of the State Engineer as No. 12562. All protests resisting the granting grant-ing of said Application, with reasons rea-sons therfor, made in affidavit form must be filed with T. H. Humpherys, State Engineer, Capitol Capi-tol Building, Salt Lake City, with one extra copy and $1.00 filing fee within 30 days after the date of completion of publication. T. H.
