ATKIN Advertising Needs Told Civic Clisbs Meet At Cedar City Saturday A discussion of the great need for advertising this state and the possible tie-in with Nevada and California for the mutual good of all three states, was the main topic discussed at the meeting of the Southern Utah Civic clubs held in Cedar City on last Saturday Satur-day and Sunday. Charles A. Horrworth, public relations director of the All-Year club of southern California, told of the development of the tourist business in his section since 1921, he explained some of the methods used, and told of the possibility of tieing in with this state and Nevada to the advantage of all. Mr. Horrworth explained that over 1.750,000 tourists visited southern California last year and spent an average of better than $5 each per day. He went on to explain the many ways that they use to hold tourists over for additional ad-ditional time and pointed out what it amounted to if they were only held one additional day in the state. Representatives of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce told those present at the meeting that their organization was going to raise $25,000 this year through the licensing of business. Over 750,000 people were reported to have visited Las Vegas last year to make the tourist business the greatest business of the city, these men declared. Easter Services The presentation of the Easter Services in Zion National Park was also discussed by those in charge of this program, with the result that Mr. Horrworth promised pro-mised that his organization would do all they could to advertise the program and send touritsts here for the program. |
