Show Selective Service Bifes Listed By County Boerd Notices To Be Sent By Mail and Posted At County Board Office The classification and selection of the men who are signed up for the draft is now underway it is reported by LeRoy H. Cox, chairman chair-man of the Washington county board. A questionnaire (form 40) is being mailed to registrants as the first step being taken by the board. Each day the board will post at its office a notice of the order numbers of the registrants to whom questionnaires have been named that day. Following is a report issued by the government governing the steps that will be taken by the county board (or local board) as it takes up the work of selecting the men who will be called for Army training: The local board keeps in its office of-fice a classification record (form 100). On this classification record rec-ord will be entered the date each action is taken by this board or the board of appeal concerning each registrant. The entry of this date' in the classification record rec-ord is notice of the action taken. Other notice will be mailed to each registrant at his address last known by the local board, and to any other person who files claim for him. Either the mailing of a notice or the entry in the classification record of the date the notice was mailed shall constitute notice to the registrant and all concerned. This is true whether or not the mailed notice is actually received by the person to whom it is ad-; ad-; dressed. j Any person required by law to register, or any registrant, who j fails to perform a duty required J by the Selective Training and ; Service Act of 1910, within the jtime provided by the law Igen-i Igen-i orally 5 daysi, has violated Ihe ;v. A person violating the law 'is subject to trial in the United States District Court, which may impose a fine or imprisonment, or both. The date when action was taken by the local board will be written writ-ten in the classification record in I each of the following instances: Whenever a duty is to be performed per-formed by a registrant. Whenever a period of time he-1 gins to run within which a registrant regis-trant is to perform a duty, j Whenever a period of time be-l be-l gins to run within which a regis-:trant regis-:trant may claim a privilege, j All registrants and other per-! sons concerned should examine! from time to time the notices posted by the local board and the i classification record, j The classification record is open ; to in.-pection by the public during dur-ing the board's business hours. |
