Show Welker Presents 'World's! Need of Christ' To Sunday Nite Book Club Roy A. Welker, head of the L. D. S. seminary presented El-wood's, El-wood's, "The World's Need of Christ", before a large audience at the library Sunday evening. This proved to be one of the most interesting reviews of the season, and has particular appeal at this time ef the world strife. The book contains only a few chapters but presents methodically methodi-cally the author's reasons why there is strife in the world, and that this will continue to prevail until the peoples of the earth return re-turn to the teachings of Christ. He maintains that peoples and creeds have only imitations of Christ, and that we are more Pagan than Christian in our human hu-man practices, and Paganism is selfish. Therefore, he states we must change our philosophy of life, not merely as individuals, but as communities, states, and nations, since group selfishness is more harmful in its effects than is that of individuals. He states that Christianity has lost hold on women, on the academic aca-demic world and on the laboring masses through the course of the centuries and these will all have to come back into line before Christ will be again on the earth in the principles of living between individuals, groups and nations as he taught them. The book was well received and Mr. Welker accorded ac-corded enthusiastic applause for his very excellent covering of this unusual book. The next book review is scheduled sched-uled for January 12, and will be announced. I |
