Show Dixie Offers Unusual j Opportunities For Flying Instruction Dixie offers unusual opportunities in the art of flying, despite the present snowstorm, and unusual interest is beine shown by students stu-dents who desire to learn to fly. There is already a waiting list beyond the Government's provision provis-ion for flying locally. There is every indication, however, that if the present interest is kept up adequate provision will be made by the Government to increase the facilities here. Already 20 students have been declared eligible eli-gible for the winter program, and several others have made application applica-tion for training in the spring program. E. L. Anderson, flight contractor con-tractor and flight instructor, is exceptionally . well equipped to handle this type of work. He has had considerable experience, and is a skillful and careful pilot. Some of his students are conducting conduct-ing the work at other institutions. The C. A. A. inspectors and the regional supervisor hold out hope that Dixie may get her quota doubled for the next training period. This will be necessary if we are to take care of all that have applied for training. If the quota is doubled, additional trainees train-ees will be accepted. Two more planes of the type now being used have been ordered by Mr. Anderson. The first of these was due here Tuesday. The other one will be available in January. Jan-uary. A Waco biplane belonging to Mr. Anderson is now undergoing under-going some repairs, and will be available here in the near future. All the fall period trainees have now soloed. An error was reported in a previous issue of the news. The townspeople named at that time are not enrolled in the college C. A. A. course. They are taking private instruction. |
