Show Dixie Sunshine Gets Back On Job After Week of Storm Dixie welcomes back its famous sunshine this (Thursday) afternoon after-noon after a week of snow, rain and freezing cold weather. The lowest temperatures since the famous cold weather of 1936 were recorded this week with an official of-ficial low of three above going into the records. Starting with the storm Wednesday Wed-nesday night, Dec. 11, Dixie saw the temperature drop from 29 above for Thursday night to 19 above Wednesday, 5, 4 and 3 above in that order on Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights. Tuesday Tues-day it jumped back up to 32 above and last night was 33 above. As we go to press the sun is bearing down in the usual Dixie manner and Dixieites are welcoming wel-coming it with real fervor. They say they will even take the dust that will follow the drying of the mud on the streets, and like it. The unusually cold weather froze pipes around the city, caused caus-ed people to avoid the outdoors anymore than was necessary ana made it necessary for them to pile on the coal to keep the cold out. |
