Show ) Five Nevada Towns and Enterprise A Comprise Newly-Formed Stake, 'Uvada' "U Dan J. Konnow Appointed President, And John II. Kronkie, Clerk J" Uvada was the name given the j I I latest organized L. D. S. stake of i V( Zion. This stake was established V ; ( over last Saturday and Sunday u at a joint conference held in Panaca, in the uniting of Panaca, Pioche, Caliente, Alamo and Eagle Valley wards of Moapa stake, in eastern Nevada, arid the Enter- prise ward of St. George stake in Utah. Hence the name, Uvada. Leaving St. George early Satur- day, Pres. Harold S. Snow and counselors Vernon Worthen and William H. Prince with their wives, were met in Panaca by Apostles George F. Richards and John R. Widtsoe and by President Bryan L. Bunker and his coun- selors of Moapa stake who came up from Las Vegas. A special meeting was held by the group at 2 p. m., at which the proposed stake set-up was discussed and for which the gen- eral provisions were made. Conference Sessions Regular conference sessions were held at 10 a. m., and 2 p. m., the names of the officers for the newly set-up stake being sustained sus-tained as follows: Dan J. Ronnow of Panaca, president; Harvey J. Sprague, Pi-oche, Pi-oche, first, and-. Franklin Don Wadsworth of Panaca second counselors, with John H. Kronkie, former Enterprise resident and ranger on the Dixie forest, as stake clerk. j Details of officering the various auxiliaries have not ' been worked out at this time state President Snow, but it is understood these will be attended to by the new stake presidency by the first of the year. It is thought probable the M. I. A., and more than likely the Seventy Quorum officers and stake missionary heads will be taken from the Enterprise ward. Ivor Clove of Enterprise was made president of the high priest Quorum, and nine of .the 12 high councilmen were selected. These include Elijah H. Conger, Joseph A. Terry, Charles C. Matthews, Ernest Gentry, Ronnow Lee, Lorraine Lor-raine Hollinger, Leland Huntsman, Seth M. Jones and Heber Truman. Mr. Terry, and the latter three of the group are from Enteiprise ward and the other five from wards in Nevada. The other three i high council members will be se-I se-I lected later by the stake presidency, presi-dency, it was explained. While St. George stake regrets lo-ing the excellent workers of j Enterprise ward, President Snow states that, they will be a great asset to the new stake, and he ; feels the best possible selections have been made in officering Uvada stake with its 2500 members. |
