Show ADELAIDE SAVAGE IS LAID TO REST TOQUERVILLE Adrtad Cooper Savage died at her home here May 2 3, at 9 a.m. She was born November 28, 1852, in Cambridgeshire, England, En-gland, daughter of George Cooper Coo-per and Ann Brummell, who were members of the Church in England. She was married to Levi Savage in the Endowment House, Salt Lake City, in 18 68. Wttren a child of four years, together with her sister, Mary Ann, two years older, and in the sole care of a widowed mo ther, she sailed from her native land and came to America. They joined a body of Saints then at Winter Quarters prepared for the historic handcart march across the plains. Responsive to various calls made by President Brigham Young for the establishment of settlements throughout the state, the family gradually moved south settling first in Lehi, then Fillmore, Scipio, Holden, Kanab and Toquerville, this latter place having been her home for sixty-seven sixty-seven years. Funeral services were held in the Toquerville Ward Friday, May 24, at 4 p.m. under the direction of Bishop Leo Bring-hurst Bring-hurst and were as follows: Song, mixed -chorus; prayer, Bishop Walter H. Black; violin solo, Walter Eager; talk, Mary J. Bringhurst; song, ladies chorus; i talk, President Claud Hirschl; talk, Leo Bringhurst; reading, Jennie Lamb; song, mixed chorus; chor-us; benediction, Bishop McMul-lan. McMul-lan. Interment was in the Toquerville Toquer-ville cemetery the grave being dedicated by Martin L. McAllister. McAllis-ter. Among those attending the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Riley Savage and family. Bishop and Mrs. McMul-lin, McMul-lin, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Mc-Mullin, Mc-Mullin, Mr. and Mrs. Vere Mc-Mullin, Mc-Mullin, and Oscar McMullin of Leeds; Mr. and Mrs. Martin L. McAllister and family of St. George; Mrs. Maude Savage and Mr. and Mrs. Wood of Salt Lake City. |
