Show LOCAL TEAM LOSES TO BEAVER SUNDAY IN FAST JALL GAME St. George lost to Beaver by the score of 3 to 1, last Sunday, August 5, at the local ball park, in one of the fastest games ever played on the local diamond. Both teams displayed excellent team play and air tight defense, behind the excellent pitching of both pitchers. Ad Anderson -for - St. . George fanned 10 men and at all times had the game under control. The game was lost when St. George failed to take advantage of their three scoring opportunities. The 'St. George infield in particular displayed as fast a brand of ball as has ever been seen on the local field. Whitehead in canter can-ter field played his usual heads up game, in the field, but failed to break the poor batting streak that he has recently been in. Both Webb and Porter handled balls that came into their teri-tory teri-tory rather slowly and lost opportunities op-portunities to have made put outs. For Beaver, Larson pitched his usual fine game, bearing down in the pinches to come through with the victory. He was given excellent support by his team mates, although they did make more errors than the St. George team. There is to be a three game play-off to see which is the champion cham-pion of this league. St. George captured the first half title and !Beaver came through in the second sec-ond half. These games should prove the best of the year, since St. George is adding Paul Wilson Wil-son and Reed Wilson to their squad. If these boys come through the way fans expect them to, they should help to bring home the bunting. 10 strike outs for Ad, to 8 for Larson, 1 error for St. George to 3 for Beaver, 11 hits for St. George and 12 for Beaver, with the final score of 3 to 1 gives some idea of the fine game that was played and proves again that these two teams are a fifty-fifty bet in picking the winner. In the last two years every game between these two teams has I been close, fast, and interesting. The play-cif series should draw large crowds, and fans who have followed these teams will assure I (Continued on page five) BASEBALL GAME (Continued from page one) you that here is an opportunity to see some mighty interesting games.
