Show BOY SCOUT NEWS The first get-together of the St, George District was held in Washington Monday night. Fifty-two Fifty-two scouts 'from St. George W7est and East Ward troops and from ETanta Clara and Washington were present. They were accompanied accom-panied by Scoutmasters Norman Gubler, P. D. Spillsbury. Dolpll Lund and Heber Thompson. The scouts enjoyed a swim followed by a fruit festival. The program was directed by Commissioner B. Glen Smith. It is planned to hold a get-together once a month. The monthly round table of the Scoutmasters of the St. George District was held at the College Building Sunday afternoon. after-noon. The three St. George Troops, Santa Clara and Washington were represented. Objectives for the year were worked out and events for the month were planned. Among the objectives worked out are: to hold a District Scout festival of some kind every month, to attend the Timpano-gos Timpano-gos Scout camp next summer, to have a good representation at each court of honor, to start a campaign for the wearing ol Scout Uniforms. It was voted that all Scouts and Scouters be urged to wear the Scout shirt and Neckerchief. The examining Court of Honor will be held the third Wednesday in each month. The September meeting has been postponed until the 25th of September. Community Com-munity good turns by troops were emphasized. The meeting was directed by Commissioner B. Glen Smith. Mrs. Vivien Woodbury, Mrs. Clark Watson and daughter, Miss LoRen and Miss Afton Judd, Virgil Vir-gil Snow and Bob Nelson spent Sunday visiting with Dr. and Mrs. Clare Woodbury, at Las Vegas. Mrs. Woodbury remained there to visit for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Antone Prince, of this city and Dr. and Mrs. Frank Petty and Mrs. Charles Petty of Cedar City returned Sunday from Price, where they attended the funeral of Mrs. John Mathis. Mrs. Mathis is survived by her husband and eight children. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Pack spent several days of the past, week in Los Angeles on business. Mrs. Merlin Roundy and baby ' of Alton arrived here last Thurs day to attend the wedding reception recep-tion of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chamberlain and to spend several sever-al days visiting. She was ac- companied by her sister, Laurel Woodbury who spent several . weeks visiting with her there. |
