Show LEADERS MAP PLANS FOR! WEST STATES AGRICULTURE Secretary "of Agriculture Henry A. Wallace and his aides from ! Washington, D. C, urged the; directors of experiment stations, and extension service for the eleven western states to work for; the solution of regional and na- tional problems as well as those j within the individual states, dur-j ing the recent western agricul-j tural planning conference held at: the Utah State Agricultural col-j lege. j "There is more richness of life and more satisfaction in the cooperative approach than in the individual approach," said Secretary Secre-tary Wallace. "We are gradually gradu-ally shading away from indivi dualism and looking at problems from the standpoint of the whole. For some time now instead of seeking God in our own souls, as was customary in the past, we have been seeking for God in the souls of other human beings and their organizations." I The federal authorities attending attend-ing the conference were assured by the western directors that the administration is "on the right track" in making thorough investigation of the agricultural resources and conditions and in determining what the people themselves want in the way of a program. It was pointed out, however, by several of the western wes-tern delegates that only the surface sur-face has been scratched in the amount of research work which has been done and much more study is necessary in determining the carrying capacity or tne ranges, developing new crops, developing de-veloping water and storing it, making surveys of soils, finding superior breeding animals and plants, and checking soil erosion. eros-ion.
