NEW PLANT AT LOS ANGELES Studebaker v ill hereafter build its cars for the Pacific Coast I territory in a r.fw pianf, to be erected at on.,- n Los Augeles, according to an announcement received today by Cox Brothers, local Studebaker dealers, from Paul G. Hoffman, president of the Studebaker Corporation. The new plant is to be ready for occupancy by November first. It will be in excess of 100,000 square feet in area, of the most modern type of one-story construction, con-struction, built of brick, concret? and steel. Primary purpose for operating this plant, according to Hoffman, is to improve the service to Studebaker Stu-debaker owners in this area. "The Pacific Coast states have always been important states in Studebaker sales," he stated. "We believe that this assembly plant will aid materially in giving giv-ing faster deliveries in this important im-portant year - round automobile market. "This program of expansion is entirely consistent with the rapid growth of Studebaker during 193 5. This plant should be ready in time to assemble cars for 1936 for a large part of the Pacific Coast territory." This plant will be one for assembly where various parts of a car will be shipped out from South Bend, Indiana to Los Angeles An-geles for construction and finishing. finish-ing. The plant will be located in the Central Manufacturing district. |
