Show INDIVIDUAL OUTPUT INCREASED That 'Americans more and more are becoming an efficient people, is shown by a study of the manufactures census figures of the Department of Commerce. Com-merce. The physical volume of manufactures Produced per person increased nearly SO Per cent from 1899 to 1925, reflecting & growth of 180 per cent in quantity of Production and of less than 90 per cent n number of persons engaged. Expansion in output per person has 71 Particularly large during recent 'ears, amounting to 10 per cent in the two years from 1923 to 1925. and to 40 P" cent the six years from 1919 to 1925. Growth' in output per person may be attributed to increasing utilization of Machinery and electric power, introduction intro-duction of various sorts of labor-saving oevices and methods, growth of mass Production of standardized articles, elimination of waste, planning of pro-etion pro-etion in relation to general business conditions, and other economies result-from result-from improvements in methods and management |
