Show STAKE CDNFERLNCE HELD ATENTERPRISE The regular quarterly conference of St. George stake was held at Enterprise Enter-prise last Saturday and Sunday. President Presi-dent Jos. K. Nicholes. presiding. Elder Richard R. Lyman was present, representing repre-senting the general authorities. At the Saturday forenoon session. Elder William Snow of Pine Valley, Elder James Bunker of Veyo and Arthur F. Miles of St. George reported missions from which they had recently returned, the first named from the German mission. Elder Bunker the Southern States and Elder Miles from the California mission. The missionaries mission-aries reported having enjoyed their labors. Elder D. H. Morris and Apostle Lyman Ly-man were the other speakers at the Saturday forenoon session, the former emphasizing the sacrifices made by the pioneers of the Dixie country, and the latter praising agriculture and making a report of the recent M. I. A. conference confer-ence at Salt Lake, which he described as "splendid." Elders W. O. Bentley, J. C. Hogenson, Bishop Terry and Apostle Lyman were the speakers Saturday afternoon. Elder Bentley spoke of the need of constant con-stant service to fit a man for the Lord's service. Elder Hogensen said he was here to assist in agricultural problems must irrigate less and cultivate more, generally. Bp. Terry was glad to have conference held at Enterprise and hoped hop-ed all would reap blessings from it. Elder R. R. Lyman spoke of honesty, saying we should be dependable at all times, giving full value in all things. Should strive not to hurt people's feelings. feel-ings. At the Sunday forenoon session of the conference, the speakers were Pres. Walter Cannon, Pres. George F. Whitehead. White-head. Elder H. L Reid and Apostle Lyman. Ly-man. Pres. Whitehead said that from now on, all Temple recommends will expire on the 30th of June and the 31st of December. Urged attendance at the temple. At the afternoon session the speakers were Elders Jos. K. Nicholes and R. R. ' Lyman. Elder Howard Judd of La Verkin ward reported his mission in Great Britiun, which har. greatly strengthened his testimony of the truth of the gospel. President Nicholes told of the great growth and improvement in Dixie. We now have good roads, good schools, good churches, good homes. We are living in the age of achievement. Advised all to make the most of the opportunities which are everywhere around. Apostle Lyman spoke of the advantages advan-tages of faith and prayer and the bles-ings bles-ings attending fasting. Quoted the prayer of Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsamene. We should always say "Father, Thy Will Be Done." Spoke of ambition, saying it was to be regretted that so many have none, and told of the great Industry of the Japanese and what they accomplished by It. The afternoon session was the best attended of the conference, there being 500 present. |
