Show RECORDS DEEDS OF NEW ENGLAND HERO John Glover's Memory Honored Hon-ored by Monument. The year of 1775 found Marblehead very active lo January taking steps for perfecting the militia preparing k Minute men for war. In February on a Sunday morning while the people were in church a transport sailed Into the harbor, and soon after British soldiers sol-diers with loaded muskets marched through Marblehead. The Minute men showed their valor and training In putting the British soldiers .under Leslie to rout. Then, on April 19, the news of the disastrous rout of the British at the battle of Lexington was received with a tumult of enthusiasm by the patriots of Marblehead. The patriots were growing bolder, more eager and ready for the struggle for their rights none perhaps more so than Col. John Glover, who had his regiment, the Twenty-first of Marblehead, ready for orders. This valiant officer was stationed at Marblehead until summoned, and he and his brave men of the marine regiment reg-iment missed the battle of Bunker Hill.
