Show NEW OFFICIALS TAKE CHARGE COUNTlAFFAiRS Miss Mabel Jarvis, Ellis J. Pickett, Charles Ering-hurst Ering-hurst and Morris Wilson Are the New Officers A special meeting of the board of county commissioners was held Monday when the present pres-ent board finished up the year's business and turned the affairs of the county over to the new board which consists of H. T. Atkin, reelected, re-elected, F. J. Bowler .hold-over, and Morris Wilson, of La Verkin, new member. H. T. Atkin, chairman chair-man the past two years, was again elected to head the commissioners. In addition to the reorganization reorganiza-tion of the county board, a new set of officers was sworn in at noon. The oath was administered in the county clerk's office by Judge LeRoy H. Cox. In the newly created office of county treasurer is seen Miss Mabel Ma-bel Jarvis, for many years clerk of the school board, but more recently re-cently secretary of the Cooperative Coopera-tive Marketing association. In the assessor's office, another position created by the commissioners commis-sioners last spring, and which was formerly combined with the sheriff's sher-iff's office, is Charles Bringhurst of Toquerville. (Continued on page 3) NEW OFFICIALS TAKE CHARGE COUNTY AFFAIRS (Continued from page 1) Taking the place of James Judd of La Verkin, retiring two-year commissioner, is Morris Wilson, also of La Verkin. During the former's term of office he has served faithfully faith-fully and has put in much time in the interest of the county. Washington county will be represented rep-resented in the next legislature, which convenes on January 12, by David Hirschi, of Hurricane, who is entering upon his second consecutive con-secutive term as representative. He has had many years legislative experience, both as senator and as representative, and is in a position po-sition to care well for the county's inteests. He was a member of the legislative tax committee and took a leading part in the successful fight for the passage of the tax revision amendments. Ellis J. Pickett, local attorney, who has had former experience in the office of county attorney, takes the place of Orson S. Taylor, who has held the position for the past two years. The other county officers remain the same and are as follows: John T. Woodbury, county clerk and auditor. William Brooks, county sheriff. Ellen Carter, recorder. W. W. Cannon, surveyor. |
