Show 1 5,000 LBS.TURKS SHIPPED OUT County Growers Will Realize in Neighborhood of $4500 for Thanksgiving Birds Thirty-five hundred dollars was distributed among Washington county coun-ty turkey growers last week, when 1141 turkeys were marketed by the local poultry association through the Utah Poultry Producers Cooperative organization. Another thousand dollars dol-lars will be' realized when the turkeys tur-keys are marketed. This money is due to begin coming in a few days. This was the largest single shipment ship-ment of turkeys that has ever left Dixie, and amounted to approximately ap-proximately 15,000 pounds. Three hundred twenty-five turkeys were pooled in the Central district, dis-trict, 105 in the La Verkin section and the balance were raised in the St. George district. The Utah state organization buyers buy-ers declared that this lot was a fine bunch of birds, very few being be-ing placed in the No. 2 grade. The same organization will handle han-dle the Christmas and February shipments, and next year they hope to market for the Dixie farmers 10,000, instead of 1000 birds. |
