Show III COLLEGE ILL EXPECTED I LEGISLATURE presentation Expected Today or Friday; Officials See Better Than 50-50 Chance for School's Continuance Action on the beer bill, which lias taken most of the time of tie state legislature during the past week, has prevented introduction intro-duction of junior college legislation legis-lation up to the present, but it is expected that either today or Friday, the bill will be offered by the education committee. The Dixie College committee, composed of V. O. Bentley, president of the St. George stake, David Hirsehi, former legislator and representative of the Hurricane Hur-ricane chamber of commerce, and i Jos. S. Snow, of the St. George ! civic clubs, are still in Salt Lake city on the job creating good will for this district, and were I assisted by President Jos. K. Nicholes last week. ( Last week end a meeting was J held with the authorities of We-i We-i ber, Snow and Dixie junior col-j col-j leges, and a gentleman's agree-l agree-l ment made that each institution t would work in cooperation with the others. ( President Nicholes, in quot-l quot-l ing a report of his trip, stated 5 there are three pointe upon j which the local institution is bas-5 bas-5 ing hope for continuance, as fol-i fol-i lows: I First 'There is a wholesome 5 friendship for Dixie among the , legislators and people of the I northern part of the state. Second Cooperation between $ the three junior colleges of the J state for the continuance of that phase of the educational pro- gram. Third There is believed to be j a better than 50-50 chance that i the institution here will be main-i main-i tained. J The presidency of the L. D. S. i church, in whose name the deeds i to the buildings, equipment and J grounds are recorded, are back-i back-i ing the college, which has pro- duced some of the outstanding j leaders in various lines in the J state. |
