Show NOXIOUS WEEDS AEE NOW T.ABOO BY REGULATIONS Quarantine regulations authorizing agricultural inspectors to quarantine any land or premises infested with noxious weeds and prevent the removal re-moval of seeds, hay, grain or other forage from the premises upon which grown until thoroughly cleaned, except ex-cept where such products may be taken to a cleaning plant or mill for the purpose of being cleaned, have been adopted by the state board of agriculture, it was announced Saturday Satur-day by Harden Bennion, state commissioner com-missioner of agriculture. These regulations regu-lations were adopted. Mr. Bennion said, in order to control more effectively effec-tively the noxious weed situation and to create a sentiment on the part of land owners to keep their premises free from noxious weeds. It is further provided by the regulations regula-tions that livestock to which such grain or forage may have been fed shall not be permitted to range at iarge. Threshing machines must be cleaned thoroughly before they leave such infested premises and nil screenings screen-ings containing noxious weeds must be destroyed. All seeds may be held under un-der the regulations, until thoroughly cleaned before being released. During the past two or three years. Commissioner Bennion said, every effort ef-fort has been made to induce land owners to clean up infested premises themselves, and everything possible has been done to educate people to the importance of weed work. More work has been done this year than ever before, the commissioner declared and there are yet many infestations which have not been cared for. District agricultural inspectors have been instructed that hereafter they must be more exacting and must make greater use of the authority of the law to enforce the observation of the noxious weed law. |
